Gay Paris, what an
extraordinary city! We started our day sightseeing all the hot spots, Champs Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Rue De
Rivoli, Place De L’opera, The Obelisk, Musee D Louvre, Nortre Dame . We enjoyed
a traditional Parisienne dinner with our new Aussie friends, James and Kassie
at Chez Clement, a quirky French restaurant just down from Arc de Triomphe. Our
meal started with scrumptious French Onion Soup with crusty bread, followed by
roast chicken and delectable Crème Brulee. After dinner we made a night visit
to the Eiffel Tower which was impressively lit up like an ornate Christmas
tree.
Due to a northerly
wind from Siberia it was particularly cold in Paris today. However, nothing was
going to prevent us from making our way up the Eiffel Tower. The views of Paris
from the platform were well worth the chill factor.
After the Eiffel
Tower, we cruised down the River Seine, in awe of the picturesque architecture and sights of Paris.
We were quite amused by the romantics who devotedly pledge their love for each
other by placing a lock on the bridge, Le Pont des Arts, to signify their mutual enchantment.
Our next stop, equally
as breathtaking was Musee D Louvre. Words cannot describe the grandness and
opulence of this renowned museum. We marvelled at many of the superlative works
such as; Michelangelo’s ‘Captive’ and ‘Venus de Milo’, de Vinci’s Mona Lisa,
Veronese’s ‘The Wedding Feast’ and many outstanding pieces.
