Being Jane Austen

Dear Uncle Jonty gave us the keys to his Georgian Manor in Bath and with his wonderful hints and tips we have been having a fabulous time. I feel like Jane Austen as I sit at Willa's dressing table attending to my beauty regime each morning.
Visited the Abbey and climbed to the top, stopping in at the Bell Tower. What a deafening treat to hear the bells ring whilst we were up there!  Next we visited one of the country's finest ancient monuments, the Roman Baths. This afforded us the opportunity to get a glimpse of what life was like in Bath in Roman times. Very glamorous life for the pampered! Much to my delight, we then visited The Assembly Rooms and Fashion Museum where we viewed the remarkable fashion from the 1600s onwards. Rew's patience was rewarded by a little fun as we embraced the moment and dressed up in Victorian dress. Following on, a visit to the grand Ball Room of The Assembly Rooms, evoked images of Jane Austen characters attending ball nights in these magnificent rooms, with their glittering chandeliers, euphonious music, a la mode dress, elegance and etiquette.

Walking on we admired the magnificent Georgian houses of The Circus and Royal Crescent in all their glory. Such a fitting tribute to the 'Age of Elegance'.
